Immagina di star guidando un’auto elettrica in una città sviluppata ed essere convinto di aver fatto una scelta ecologica ed etica dato che ti stai spostando senza inquinare l’ambiente.

Bè tutto secondo i piani, l’intento delle case produttrici di auto elettriche é proprio questo: devono farti credere di far parte di quelli che “vogliono bene al pianeta” e che tu stai dando il tuo importante contributo in questa grande missione dell’essere umano.

Questa sensazione di pace interiore però ha un costo molto alto, e non parlo degli esorbitanti prezzi di acquisto per un’auto elettrica ma di un costo che non paghiamo noi, bensì migliaia di minori (e non solo) che vengono sfruttati nel processo di estrazione di materiali fondamentali per la produzione delle enormi batterie delle auto elettriche.

Questo accade praticamente dall’altra parte del mondo: in Congo, Sud America e altre parti dell’Africa dove sono presenti le miniere per l’estrazione del litio e cobalto.

In questi luoghi ogni giorno migliaia di donne, bambini, adolescenti e uomini vengono costretti a lavorare in condizioni pietose per arricchire le aziende cinesi o europee. 

Un altro aspetto da non sottovalutare: ogni giorno decine e decine di camion partono dalle miniere congolesi per un viaggio lungo oltre tremila chilometri diretti verso le coste del sud africa per caricare i materiali su enormi navi che li trasporteranno in Cina, Europa e Stati Uniti.

Non credo che i veicoli coinvolti in questi lunghissimi trasporti siano molto indicati per la salvaguardia dell’ambiente, probabilmente sono tutt’altro che ecologici.

Tutto questo disagio però avviene dall’altra parte del mondo, quindi a noi cosa interessa?

Possiamo continuare a guidare la nostra auto elettrica illuminata da led, monitor e sensori senza preoccuparci di niente…se non di cercare una colonnina per ricaricarla.
